The King Abdullah Project for Wa’ad Al Shamaal Industrial City (WAS) is a landmark industrial development situated 15 km northeast of Turaif, in Saudi Arabia’s Northern Borders Governorate. Covering a total area of 440 square kilometers—of which 290 square kilometers are under detailed study—the project supports the expansion of the country’s phosphate mining industry. Strategically positioned to host both upstream and downstream industrial activities, Wa’ad Al Shamaal is envisioned as a vital industrial hub, comparable to the Royal Commission Cities of Jubail and Yanbu. Initiated by Ma’aden in 2013, the project has focused on establishing key infrastructure, including roads, utilities, residential areas, and commercial and public services, with a long-term vision extending to 2050.

As part of this expansive master plan, Engicon has been entrusted as a sub-consultant with the detailed design of the Wa’alia Environmental Park. This park serves as a cornerstone of the city’s environmental and community development strategy. It aims to integrate natural elements to mitigate environmental challenges, establish vibrant green spaces, and stimulate investment through distinctive recreational offerings. The park’s development supports the broader goals of the WAS project in creating a sustainable, livable, and economically dynamic industrial city.

Engicon’s scope includes the full design and development of the Wa’alia Environmental Park, covering landscape architecture, infrastructure integration, and utility coordination. The team is responsible for delivering comprehensive master planning, conceptual design, and final construction-ready documents (Issued for Construction – IFC). The objective is to provide a complete and cohesive landscape design—from concept to detailed execution.
